Tim Finley and his wife, Sharon, have been fixtures in the Benton community for several decades. For more than 18 years, he worked as a pharmacist at another local pharmacy. In 2012, change came.
“A great opportunity presented itself and my family and I decided to open Finley Pharmacy,” says Tim. “That has been one of my greatest decisions.”
An open location at 1016 W. South Street, Suite 1 in Benton was available. With customer convenience in mind, Tim and his family went to work preparing everything from shelving, products, a pharmacist area and a drive-thru. Within a short period of time the startup became a thriving business.
Because of this growth, more space was necessary to meet the various needs of their customers. The time had come to expand, but Tim already had a plan.
“We opened a smaller area at first, with the idea we might expand in the future,” he says. “When the suite next to the pharmacy became vacant, we decided to expand and offer more products for patient care. Durable medical equipment is important for some patients after surgery or with chronic health problems. The pharmacy area was expanded as well, with the increase in volume of prescriptions and areas for vaccines, special packaging for nursing homes’ and patients’ convenience, and a compounding area.”
With growth came the need for employees who share the vision of customer-centered service. “We have 35 full- and part-time employees: pharmacists, clerks, pharmacy technicians, office staff, and delivery drivers.”
Since the beginning of the pandemic there has been a shift toward staying healthy and mindful of a possible situation that could lead to infections. Tim has advice on how to do this.
“Everyone should stay ahead of his or her health.” he says. “Do not procrastinate in healthy lifestyles and wellness visits with physicians. Consistency and staying compliant with medications is also very important. We offer special services such as packaging that helps remind patients to take their medication on time.”
To help their customers meet these goals, Finley Pharmacy offers a wide-variety of services.
In order to customize products to a specific customer’s need, the pharmacy can create specific medications through a process called compounding.
“We are all unique, so medications are not going to work the same for everyone. Some individuals may require medications that are no longer manufactured or have ingredients to which they are allergic,” says Tim.
The pharmacists are specially trained to prepare customized prescription medications not just for humans, but also for pets. Compounding allows pharmacists to alter the prescription to exact specifications for many conditions, such as hormone therapy, pain management, palliative care, veterinary, and wound care.
Finley Pharmacy also has programs that make keeping track of and taking medications easier.
“Our medication packaging system is designed to help you take the right medications at the right time by organizing your pills and capsules into individual packets,” says Tim. “Instead of picking up different bottles of medications from our pharmacy, you’ll go home with convenient medication packets. It’s a safer, easier way to keep on top of your medication regime. Most insurance plans are accepted for this program.”
The pharmacy’s Medication Synchronization program is an easy and convenient way to align medications for pickup on the same day each month. The pharmacy will contact your physician when needed, fill the drugs you need, and have everything ready on the same day each month. If you have any new medications prescribed during the month, a pharmacist will fill enough to sync that medication with the other meds. When all of your prescriptions are ready, they will give you a call so you can come pick them up or take advantage of free delivery.
“An injury can limit what a person can do. Finley Pharmacy wants to make sure customers are able to keep going about their daily lives as easily as possible,” says Tim. Durable medical equipment available for purchase or rental includes braces, wraps, walkers and seated walkers, cranes, knee scooters (available for rent), wheelchairs (available for rent), crutches, foot “boots” and bath/shower/toilet assists.
“Just like you, we want to make sure children develop healthy habits, including getting their daily nutrients,” says Tim. Children (age 2 to 12) can join the Kids Vitamin Club and receive free chewable multi-vitamins every 30 days with no strings attached. A parent or guardian simply needs to stop into the pharmacy and enroll his or her children.
“As a locally-owned and -operated pharmacy, we strive to go above and beyond for our patients,” says Tim. “We are committed to the idea that quality care means more than just prompt prescriptions. To us, quality care means that you get the prescriptions and medications you need, along with the care and attention you deserve. Our pharmacy is dedicated to the wellbeing of your family and our community.
Choosing a pharmacy should be based on care. We strive to go above and beyond taking care of our patients.”
