The Healing Room

Crystal Barnett dedicated almost a decade of her life to her work as a massage therapist in Arkansas County. However, in 2015 she decided to step away from her busy practice to spend more time with her family. Two years later, an unexpected move brought Crystal and her family to Saline County.

Crystal had only just settled into her new home when she received a message from a former client with a request: “I know you aren’t doing massage anymore, but is there any way that you could work on my neck?” This experience reignited her passion for her work, leading her to launch a mobile massage business in 2018. With a growing clientele, she recognized the necessity for a permanent location, which opened in November 2019.

Unfortunately, the pandemic forced her business to close its doors in March 2020, just as it was gaining momentum. Believing that God had a bigger plan for her, she took the opportunity to shift her focus from practicing massage to exploring the roots of chronic pain that lacks medical explanation.

Crystal’s personal battle with depression and chronic pain led her on a journey of self-discovery. Over the course of three years, she conducted extensive research, underwent training, and pursued studies to unravel the root cause of her ailments. Her goal was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between the human mind and body.

She wanted to use this knowledge to not only heal herself but also inspire others to do the same. In 2021 she earned her practitioner’s license in transformational therapy. This powerful approach blends top techniques from NLP, CBT, hypnotherapy, and psychotherapy to transform lives in a profound and lasting way, diving deep into the reasons behind feeling stuck.

Since starting her practice, Crystal has helped countless women across the country overcome their struggles. By identifying the root causes of their problems and freeing them from negative past behaviors, she has enabled these women to live fulfilling, purpose-driven lives.

By 2022, Crystal was not only working with women via Zoom from her home office, but she had once again found herself back in the massage therapy space, working with trauma-informed massage clients. (Trauma-informed massage addresses the feelings, emotions, and memories stored in the body).

“No matter how many times I tried to step away from massage therapy, I was always pulled back. There was a deeper reason behind my involvement that I couldn’t dismiss,” Crystal explains. “My work with these clients revealed the significant impact of unaddressed emotions and memories stored in the body on their daily lives. My experience has shown me that integrating root cause therapy can be an effective solution for achieving complete freedom in mind, body, and soul.”

By the spring of 2023, she had already integrated myofascial release into her own healing regimen for pain relief. Seeking to expand her knowledge, she enrolled in a course and connected with an Integrated Structural Therapy instructor. This moment marked a turning point in her career, as she discovered a fresh perspective that emphasized the significance of fascia in our overall health. Her massage work was transformed, and she approached it with a whole new level of understanding.

As Crystal delved deeper into the study of fascia, her clients began noticing immediate improvements. Some felt relief from years of pain and greatly improved posture, while others experienced a newfound sense of release from decades of pent-up resentment and anger held within their bodies.

Crystal established The Healing Room after working independently for three years, to provide a comprehensive approach to massage therapy with a focus on myofascial release and root cause therapy.

Crystal provides fascia sessions that are customized to the unique needs of each client. Constricted fascia and soft tissues can cause exhaustion, immune system dysfunctions, and pain that may be related to physical or emotional trauma. Myofascial release is used, and a root cause strategy may be employed to help clients identify underlying reasons for discomfort.

If you’re experiencing chronic pain, Crystal offers a complimentary consultation to help identify the best treatment, using this time to evaluate whether massage, myofascial release, root cause therapy, or a combination of these techniques will be the most effective approach for your condition.

Crystal is also proud to announce the launch of the Happier, Healthier Arkansas Initiative, in which she is a core member. Working alongside like-minded professionals, the organization’s mission is to educate and support the community with holistic health fundamentals and generational health solutions.

The ultimate goal is to improve our state’s health ranking in the US from #49 to #1. The organization’s focus on community outreach, support, value, and education is paramount to achieving this goal.
