The Peachy Frock

The saying “pretty as a peach” is a high compliment in the South. The phrase often figuratively compliments someone’s appearance, suggesting attractiveness and a sweet and delightful quality, like a ripe peach.

These praises certainly fit The Peachy Frock at 300 N. Main St. in downtown Benton. It’s a dream that owner Lyndsy McGinty never believed would come true. “When I started out selling on Facebook, having a storefront boutique was a fantasy, something that I didn’t really think would actually happen,” she said.

A stay-at-home mom of two, McGinty desired to serve her community through her passion for fashion. In 2009 she began selling monogrammed items on Facebook. From there she added clothing and accessories, boosting her online business in 2013. “Since I was a little girl, I’ve always had a thing for fashion,” McGinty said. “It just never felt like the right time. Last summer, I decided to start praying about it. If it was God’s plan for my family, it was going to have to fall into our laps.

“Literally two days later, it did, and every step after that was so easy. We knew this little downtown gem was meant for us. My husband, Matt, was my biggest supporter. He was going to do whatever it took to make this happen for me. I couldn’t do this without him.”

The business couple have been married 20 years and have two children, Ethan, 17, and Macy, 12. “We are a sports-loving family, so we spend a lot of our time at some kind of sporting event,” McGinty added. “We are huge Razorbacks fans and love to catch a game in Fayetteville whenever we can. We are also very involved with our church, Holland Chapel. Our faith is very important to us, and we give God all the glory for blessing us with this business.”

With a passionate love for the Hogs, McGinty makes sure to include Razorbacks items in her store. Since opening her storefront in November 2024, McGinty said she is “honored” to provide business to the city. “I’m honored to be able to have a business in our cute little downtown,” she said. “I love that we have so many schools represented as well. One of the things you will find in my store is school spirit items.”

McGinty began her business venture in college, earning a marketing degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. With her education and knowledge, McGinty opened her storefront with the idea of making sure her store was different from many in and around the Benton area. “There are so many amazing boutiques in Saline County, so I knew I had to stand out and be different,” McGinty said. “I love how we have such a unique space for a boutique. How cool that it used to be Posey’s Service Station. I knew I had to impress customers when they walked through the door. I want them to have a shopping experience when they come inside. I love seeing a group of little girls or a grandma and granddaughter come in for a girls’ day.”

Like many business owners, gaining and making friendships and relationships is McGinty’s goal as well. “I want to build relationships with my customers,” McGinty said. “I want to be their friend, someone they can trust. I also have a spot where they can write down prayer requests. This isn’t just a clothing business to me, it’s also my ministry. I want customers to love my shop so much that they keep coming back.”

McGinty said that many of her customers have been with her since long before the storefront, something she hopes to add to now. “I’ve cherished the relationships I’ve built with my customers over the years,” she said. “Many of them I’ve had long before I had my storefront. One of my favorite things is when someone comes in looking for something specific and finds exactly what they’re looking for. I love to see the joy on their faces.

“When I first opened, people would come in for the first time and just say, ‘Wow!’ We worked so hard for two months getting ready for opening day, so to hear things like that makes me really proud.

“I have many different and unique items. You can find something for a dressy event, or a casual outfit for a Razorback game. We also offer lots of fun accessories and gift items. There really is something for everyone and all ages too. We have mainly women’s and children’s clothing—anything from dressy to casual—as well as plenty of Razorbacks and local school items,” McGinty added. “We also have shoes, accessories, and gifts.”
