The Beautiful Life

La belle vie is a French phrase that translates to “the beautiful life.” For owner of the La Belle Vie Boutique Salon Beth Johnson, the name is more than a phrase—it’s a guiding principle for how she operates her business.

From the moment she became the owner of La Belle Vie in 2014, Beth knew she wanted to provide a place for women and girls to feel beautiful from the inside out. “Our customers can get hair cuts, gift items, apparel and good conversation; it feeds their souls. Our customers leave beaming.”

A trained cosmetologist for over 15 years, Beth started cutting hair shortly after graduating high school. She then attended University of Arkansas at Little Rock and graduated with a degree in nursing while simultaneously obtaining her cosmetology license.

“I was doing hair and was a registered nurse at the same time,” said Beth. While working long hours as a nurse, she quickly built a clientele as a cosmetologist and ultimately chose the life of an entrepreneur.

La Belle Vie Boutique Salon offers a range of services including stylish cuts, coloring, perms, straightening, blowouts and updos for weddings and proms. Other services provided are lash extensions, full facial waxing, spray tans and an array of hair supplies, tools and accessories. The shop also offers women’s apparel ranging from sizes extra to 3XL. From dresses, t-shirts, and blouses to Mommy and Me matching sets, the boutique offers a variety of items that make great gifts for the holiday season. Plus, salon customers receive a 10% discount on boutique items.

Beth and her team have worked hard to cultivate a welcoming space for her clients to retreat to. Whether they are discussing nutrition, mental health, fashion or even pop culture, Beth’s skill set has equipped her to take on the whole person from the inside out. “A hairdresser can tell if it’s a bad day or a good day. We pick up on clients’ cues and balance. Our job is to provide a clean, uplifting place for women to get the love and support they need.

“The beautiful life is much deeper than hair, skin and fashion. It’s about feeling good head-to-toe, inside and out. Our hairstylists are dedicated to keeping up with modern trends while holding on to the classic looks that will never go out of style. We even have in-salon education provided by our product company throughout the year,” said Beth.

With more than a year of uncertainty due to the pandemic, the team at La Belle Vie was impacted by COVID-19. But Beth credits that team (Helen Hampton, Marisa Langley, Sandy Acevedo, Ashley Huber, Danya Arnold, and Molly Sutton) for providing a supportive atmosphere for one another and their customers during difficult times. “Our stylists are such a family—we’ve been through a lot with our clients and the pandemic,” said Beth. “Our customers have been so faithful. We are so grateful and our customer base has grown tremendously over the last several years. We are looking to make people feel good throughout the year and especially during the rush of the season.”
