Menchie’s

Someone once said, “Life is short, so eat dessert first,” and if you are looking for someplace to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours and get your dessert on, you need look no further than Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt in Bryant.

Located at 7301 Alcoa Rd Ste 5, Menchie’s has been supplying the area with tasty frozen treats since 2015. Owners Todd and Renee Rivers say they bought the franchise 6 years ago because they were looking for something they could do together. “We purchased two store locations, this one in Bryant and a second location in West Little Rock,” Todd said. “Unfortunately, that WLR store did not survive Covid, so now we just concentrate on our Bryant location.”

Todd and Renee live in West Little Rock and together have 6 kids and 2 grandchildren. Todd grew up in Amarillo, Texas and Renee in Olathe, Kansas. They met 7 years ago through mutual friends from their churches. “We love the Saline County area,” Todd said. “And we love anything to do with the schools. We have provided froyo cups to many schools around the area to resell in their various fundraising events, and we usually participate in ten to twelve fundraisers each year.”

Todd says that Menchie’s is different from the average ice-cream/frozen yogurt shop because their yogurt flavors are made exclusively from their own custom recipes. “We capture the taste of your favorite treats and magnify them into exceptional flavors,” Todd said. “You can enjoy the texture of ice cream with the healthful attributes of live and active cultures because we use only fresh milk.

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt is also a good source of calcium.” He says Menchie’s strives to offer a special treat for every guest and takes pride in using only the highest quality ingredients. Menchie’s frozen yogurt is made with fresh milk from a California dairy, and Todd says their “smiley” California cows have not been treated with artificial growth hormones (rBST).

“We do our best to say NO to artificial colors, NO to artificial flavors, NO to high fructose corn syrup, NO to partially hydrogenated oils, and YES to all things real,” Todd said. “Our entire line of frozen products is certified Kosher, too.” Kosher Certification for individual flavors is available upon request and the store also offers gluten-free and vegan treat options for their customers.

Not only that, but Menchie’s also features more than 40 toppings from which to choose to create that special mix. “We offer a self-serve format where you pay by the ounce, so you are able to select how much or how little you want, again, just for you,” Todd said.

The exclusive recipes at Menchie’s are the brainchildren of an innovative culinary team who works diligently to come up with fun and exciting frozen yogurt flavors so there is always something new to try. And with fewer calories than ice cream, it’s even easier to enjoy. “They focus on quality, variety, and innovation to offer you only the best-in-class, and the limited flavors change in each store every month,” Todd said. “Our standard yogurt is made with fresh milk, but for those looking for the vegan options, we have plant-based flavors including Dark Chocolate Mousse made with almond milk, Cookie Sandwich made with almond butter, Chocolate Hazelnut made with cashew milk, Mint Chocolate Chip made with almond butter and Mixed Berry made with oat milk.”

When asked what his personal favorite flavor is, Todd says he likes the chocolate and vanilla swirl with strawberries, chopped Reese’s and hot fudge, while Renee prefers the Strawberry and Cheesecake swirled with Cool Whip and fresh strawberries.

“Everyone has a favorite,” he said. “Pure Chocolate and Vanilla Snow are our top sellers while some of our unique staples, such as Cake Batter and I Dream of Cookies n Cream are real fan favorites too, and although Original Tart is not for everyone, it is a great lower calorie option to top with fresh fruit from our topping bar.”

The Flavors of the Month at Menchie’s for May will be Chocolate Dipped Churro made with Hershey’s Chocolate and Cherry Cola Sorbet. “We usually have 2–3 flavors of the month, changing each month.” Todd said. “But we always have our customer favorite froyo flavors of Vanilla Snow, Pure Chocolate, Cake Batter, Cookies n Cream, Original Strawberry, Cheesecake, Pineapple Sorbet, and Original Tart.

“We also have several rotating flavors which we switch out routinely, such as Mudslide Pie, Peanut Butter, Banana Pudding with Nilla Wafers, Caramel, Pomegranate Raspberry Sorbet, Peach Sorbet, and Hershey’s Kisses.”

To anyone out there looking to start a Menchie’s franchise, Todd recommends doing lots of homework and suggests using Google as a resource. “Ask yourself what inspires you and go from there,” he said.

He also encourages any school or church group looking for a fundraiser to give them a call. “Our school flavors are USDA Smart Snack approved and are served in the Benton High School cafeteria, “Todd said. “We’d love for all our school districts to offer our products to their students. Menchie’s loves our Saline County home!”
