“Radiant”—this was the word from Isaiah 60 that stuck out to Stephanie Caldwell, owner of Radiant Boutique in Bryant. Often described by those who know her best as “a light,” Stephanie realized her desire over a year ago to open a small business that encouraged women to look in the mirror and see the radiance of who they are, inside and out.
“I wanted a word that correlated with ‘light,’ but I didn’t realize how many times ‘radiant’ was used in the Bible!” Stephanie says. “I prayed about it a lot, and that one just stuck…every woman wants to feel radiant.”
The boutique was born, and through her business, Stephanie discovered a path where two of her passions combined. “It was a God thing,” she says, “I wanted to share my faith and enthusiasm for fashion. He started opening doors, and I just started walking through them. It was amazing.” Radiant Boutique gives her an opportunity not only to connect with other women in those ways, but also to cheer them on through styling and genuine encouragement that inspires confidence.
Stephanie’s heart for her customers is that they would walk through her doors and feel welcomed and comfortable, and then walk out uplifted. “Women are immensely critical of themselves. When they come in, I just want to make them feel beautiful,” she expresses. “It’s fun to help people style themselves so they feel good when they wear something.”
The boutique owner longs for women of all ages to find her store to be not only a positive shopping experience, but a boost of self-assurance. “It’s nice to see people light up when you say, ‘that color looks amazing on you!’” Stephanie believes that true confidence comes from God, but it is hard to maintain in isolation. By creating an upbeat and honest environment, she hopes to foster community that supports each person’s distinctive beauty.
Radiant Boutique presents Saline County women with clothing that showcases who they are on the inside, as well as the outside. Many women come specifically for Dear John jeans (these come in a thoughtful and inclusive range of sizes, cuts, and styles) but stay for the array of vibrant tops, dresses, and more.
Specializing in all things ultra-feminine, Radiant Boutique features a host of quality pieces at affordable price points. “It’s been a process,” Stephanie notes. “I’ve tried to be really meticulous about doing this well.”
She celebrates that she can source exceptional clothing that draws shoppers, while maintaining competitive pricing. “I try to keep everything very reasonable. Most of my tops are $30-40! But I try to find things that are good quality. I want people to have good clothes for a good price, but I want them to be very good. That’s important to me.”
As the shop gears up for the holiday season, Stephanie is prepping for sales. “I’m looking forward to Pink Friday, which is the Friday before Black Friday. And I’m also looking forward to Black Friday!” Radiant Boutique will be running specials for both shopping dates. These sale events give customers an opportunity to support small businesses and do some Christmas shopping for friends and family.
Customers who shop at Radiant Boutique appreciate that Stephanie is authentic and down-to-earth. Always happy to help, she notes how fulfilling it is to know that an outfit she selected for someone is well-loved. “It’s funny how many women I’ve brought out of their comfort zones, and then they’ve worn something and LOVED it, and come back and tell me, ‘Thank you for making me wear that!’ It’s fun to uplift women in that way.”
Her authenticity and sincerity are exactly what help Stephanie show up faithfully each day—for her faith, her family, her customers, and herself. Balancing work with intentional rest as a small business owner is difficult, but Stephanie resets herself each day and is diligent to prioritize what is most important.
From happily chatting with a customer, to setting things aside to spend time with her husband and two teenagers, to reading and connecting with others in Bible study, Stephanie makes space for people.
Her kindness is noticed by those she meets and has resulted in connections made at her store. “I’ve definitely developed wonderful friendships through this whole process,” Stephanie says, noting how many women want to talk and share their faith when they come in. “It’s so fun to learn and grow from women who are older than I…or even younger! Different experiences—so that’s nice.”
For Stephanie Caldwell, Radiant Boutique is nothing short of a gift. But she knows that apart from her doing her best one day at a time, every victory and challenge is out of her hands. “This is God’s store,” Stephanie says, “I am just stewarding it, the way He wants me to, the best that I can. There’s nothing I can do other than walk through the doors He’s opening.”
