Pam Davis’ passion runs deep. As one of the newest residents of Saline County, she has taken the county by storm by combining her passion for fitness and her love of children and infusing it into causes that impact kids across the county.
As a member of the Junior Auxiliary of Saline County, Pam spent her provisional year working on Kids Fit, a free fitness event for kids teaching the basics of nutrition and fitness. Kids received a passport and visited different stations like the Crossfit obstacle course and the coloring station that taught kids the importance of nutrition and how to build a healthy plate. The Junior League voted to host this event again in April 2015.
A triathlete and runner for nearly a decade, she is a member of the Saline County Striders and has been a leader and participant for Women Can Run. In 2015, she will begin a clinic in Saline County as part of Girls on The Run, a national fitness initiative for girls ages 8-11 of any fitness level and is non-competitive.
Pam will direct and coach the first team in Saline County. The team will practice at Hill Farm Elementary in Bryant twice a week and will focus the first 45 minutes on self-esteem and for the last 45 minutes the girls will run as a team. There will be a graduation 5k in Little Rock at the end of the season.
When Pam is not running, she is pursuing her other passion, helping foster children. She and her husband Greg, always knew they wanted to share the blessings that they have been given. They fostered two teenage boys until they could be united with their families out of state. She then became a staff member at CASA of Saline County helping foster children find a voice and a permanent home.
“After having children I felt even more of a need to be involved. I love my children so much and I want to make the world a better place for them,” said Pam. “I wanted to deal with social issues and you have to go to the root and I wanted to work with families.”
Pamela is looking forward to 2015. “I want to get the Girls on The Run running in Saline County with expanded sites in the fall.” She also has aspirations that every child in the CASA system will have an advocate in 2015. “I know Saline County has the resources and the people, and the case loads are manageable. We need 15 more volunteers to be recruited and trained to be at 100%. That’s a pretty big goal.”
