The real estate market in Saline County is hot, and competition among the various agencies is even hotter. For the owners of Parker & Scroggins Realty, teamwork is what sets them apart.
Jessica Parker and Allison Scroggins did not start their respective careers in the real estate business but feel they have found their calling.
Jessica was a stay-at-home mother until her son entered kindergarten. At this point in time, she accepted a position as an office manager for a real estate agent. Over time, she was encouraged to work toward her real estate license. Now, as one of the owners of Parker & Scroggins Realty, she wears many hats. She can be found guiding buyers and sellers in purchasing and selling property, marketing properties, showing houses, running market analysis and preparing paperwork. It’s not a career she had ever thought of doing, but after five years in the business, she loves it. She also works with a large bank handling foreclosures and does property management as well.
She has earned the Award of Excellency in 2015 and 2016, as well as the Centurion Team Award in 2016. She is the principal broker at the agency.
Co-owner Allison Scroggins is the executive broker for the agency with responsibilities of training, recruiting, listing agent, buyers agent and company spokesperson.
Her road to real estate took a different path. After graduating from college in 1997 with a BS in Speech Pathology with a minor in Education, her first job was at Alltel Communications selling cell phones in retail locations. Later she moved to the corporate headquarters as a Senior Analyst in the Business Sales Channel. When Verizon purchased Alltel, she took the opportunity to get out of the office after 12 years and back into the field as a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep for Proctor & Gamble. One year into her new position, Proctor & Gamble restructured, and she was part of a large layoff.
Job hunting ensued. She noticed her church was doing a series at the time called “What on Earth am I here for?” The timing was perfect. She quickly realized that helping and serving people was her spiritual gift and that is what she should do with her life. She also knew that she loved sales and decided to get into Real Estate where she could do both.
She recalls her parents telling her that when she was 3-years old, she would go around the cul-de-sac where the family lived selling rocks to the neighbors, and they were buying them. Her parents always knew she would be in sales. Allison also has a passion for teaching (training) the agents and helping them to be successful.
Her success in the market can be seen in the various awards she has received, including the Diamond Award for Excellence in Saline County in 2015 and 2016 for sales volume over $7 million and the Centurion Award from Century 21 for the number of units sold in 2017.
Jessica is expecting a sixth child with her husband in February 2018. It will be the fifth boy in the family with one set of twins. In the midst of it all, the family is building a new home.
Allison is a lake lover and spends as much time as possible on the water wake boarding and knee boarding. She is the assistant coach for her daughter’s cheerleading squad at school.
They may not have imagined as young girls that they would ever be working in real estate, but the passage of time has a way of putting people onto paths toward others. Their commitment and desire to help people are what customers have recognized. It isn’t an empty phrase to Allison and Jessica, it’s a promise.
