Vol 18 Issue 2

At the end of my daughter’s fifth grade school year almost three years ago, I agreed to work the 50-yard dash event at her school’s end-of-year Field Day. It seemed harmless enough at the time. And it was, until my uber competitive 37-year-old self thought it would be a good idea to challenge the self-proclaimed “fastest kid in school” to a footrace. Not only would I race him, but I’d even give him a 3 second head start. What could possibly go wrong?

This decision caused a major detour that changed my path. An unfortunate torn meniscus turned my stride into a struggle, disrupting not just my day but the very fabric of my normal life. The days afterward were filled with frustration, as simple activities like walking, sitting, or even playing with my kids became insurmountable hurdles. But I was determined to regain my strength and mobility.

What followed was an insightful experience with physical therapy that not only helped me regain my strength but also ignited a newfound appreciation for the resilience of the human body. In this issue, we shine the spotlight on the stars of our local physical therapy scene. Each therapist brings a unique approach, an inspiring story, and a genuine passion for helping others reclaim their lives. From innovative treatment methods to welcoming clinic environments, you’ll discover how these dedicated professionals are making a profound difference one patient at a time.

Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or simply looking to improve your function and movement, I encourage you to explore the wealth of
knowledge and support available within our community. Each article celebrates the individuals  behind these clinics and reinforces physical therapy’s significant role in achieving a healthier, more active life.

We hope you enjoy learning more about these remarkable therapists who embody the spirit of care, dedication, and resilience in our community. They’re here to help us navigate life’s bumps and bruises and embody the power of healing as they stand ready to assist you or someone you know.

While working on this magazine I was reminded that recovery isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. Here’s to restored movement, renewed hope, and our local heroes in physical therapy! Your town. Your life. Your magazine.
