Volume 17 Issue 2

One of my favorite aspects of spring’s arrival is daylight saving time. Who knew that the idea of advancing the clock one hour would make such a big difference in my happiness and productivity? And who doesn’t enjoy warmer weather and prolonged evening hours of sunlight? Of course, with an ever-improving forecast comes an ever-expanding honey-do-list around the house.

But when the weekend finally arrives, instead of knocking out my self-imposed to-do list, I find myself wanting to kick back on the couch and flip through TV channels. Soon I’m captivated by some of my favorite home improvement stations: DIY Network and HGTV.

As embarrassing as it may be, I can’t get enough of shows like Bath Crashers, House Hunters, Fixer Upper, Property Brothers, Love It or List It, and endless others. Naturally, after countless episodes of home buying, selling, and renovation, I’m now a self-proclaimed contractor. (Probably I should know better; that’s like learning to perform surgery by watching Grey’s Anatomy. Not a good idea!)

I’ll be honest, sometimes I dream of buying the worst house on the best street, just so I can either hire the Gaines duo or ask myself, “Now, what would Chip & Joanna do?” But for every shiplap-loving episode of Fixer Upper that makes me feel like I can conquer the world there are shows like Renovation Realties that remind me to be glad there are fully finished and beautiful homes for sale!

Saline County is a beautiful community blessed with wonderful homes and subdivisions and a long list of talented real estate agents looking to sell them. We all know that much of what we see on television is fiction, but these brokers have the business models to make what we see on reality TV a true reality.

If you’ve thought about buying or selling a house right now and are wondering about the housing market, you’re not alone. The truth is the housing market predictions are about as reliable as weather forecasts. That’s why we’re excited to feature a handful of our local real estate experts and agencies in this edition as a projected forecast of brighter days ahead in 2024!Your town. Your life.
