Chris Jordan wasn’t necessarily looking to start a business—he was just trying to solve a problem. When his young son’s baseball team needed a place to practice during inclement weather, he went searching for a solution. What he found instead was an opportunity.
Jordan, already a well-known entrepreneur in Saline County as the owner of Stated Apparel in downtown Benton, turned that need into Legends Sports & Entertainment—but it’s far from your typical baseball facility.
“A lot of these places are just a metal building with cages,” Jordan said. “Legends is more than that. It is somewhere between a training facility and a Chuck E. Cheese.”
Located at 3202 Military Road in Benton, Legends offers more than just batting cages. Designed with families in mind, the space features arcade games like Galaga, Golden Tee, Big Buck Hunter, and NBA Jam, plus a basketball court used for pickup games, dodgeball, Nerf wars, pickleball, and more. For parties, there are two private rooms perfect for cake, pizza, and hanging out between games.
This not only caters to parties but also gives siblings of kids taking lessons or working on their swings something fun to do while they wait. There are also several party rooms for gatherings between playing games, where party hosts can set up cake and refreshments.
“We needed something like this in Saline County,” Jordan said. “It’s a great place for a birthday party because there’s so much to do. This is going to be a hot party spot.”
Three party packages are available, like the Ultimate Package, which offers two hours in a party room and three hours of play—including a Legends coach-led activity.
Since its soft opening in late April, the facility has already been buzzing, especially with baseball families. The demand is high—youth baseball is booming locally—and Legends fills a gap. Jordan also acquired Salty Sports, a training brand with travel baseball teams and private lessons that previously operated at multiple locations in Benton. Those players and families have made the move to Legends and are continuing to enjoy some of the same services such as catcher classes, skills & drills, and private instruction.
Legends offers memberships, a la carte cage rentals, and team packages that allow access to all four indoor cages. The space is also open to other athletes with specialized training sessions for hitting, pitching, and agility. Legends’ staff includes experienced instructors, many of whom have played or coached at competitive levels, ensuring kids are learning from the best.
And it’s still growing. Soon, the Legends facility will feature outdoor batting cages and a turfed mini field, perfect for wiffle ball, kickball, and for players to take fielding practice. Jordan is also considering seasonal camps and community events to further engage local families.
“It’s going to be awesome when we get everything completed,” Jordan said. “This is going to be like no other facility the area has seen.”
Jordan’s entrepreneurial journey started humbly selling novelty T-shirts at music festivals in 2010. That evolved to a kiosk at a Little Rock mall and eventually to the launch of Stated Apparel in 2014. The brand moved into a permanent storefront in downtown Benton in 2017 and in 2020 opened a sister store, Wild—a women’s clothing boutique.
Jordan saw lasting value in kids, sports, and experience-based businesses.
“We wanted to do something different, and my son is getting into travel baseball full throttle, so it made a lot of sense,” he said. “The retail world is changing, but kids and sports are foolproof, so it made a lot of sense to pivot to this kind of business.”
After months of searching, he found the right property in the former Fastening Solutions building on the south end of Military Road. One of the most attractive aspects of the location is the land that accompanies the building that will host the outdoor activities. The owners were supportive, and the timing was right.
There is still some work left to do—adding a surface to the gym floor and installing the outdoor field—but with the traffic Jordan has already seen in the first few weeks, he’s convinced he made the right decision to enter the youth sports/party destination business.
“It’s exciting to have a dream, tap into my business brain, and build something that this community truly needs,” Jordan said. “Seeing people already using it—it’s just a great feeling. I’m so glad we did it.”
